4th of July

Our Family on the 4th!

Kyan was in a kiddie parade. His car had worked ALL week...even that day...until the second that the parade actually started! It would only go in REVERSE! Needless to see, I had to push Kyan the few blocks that the parade was to the city park! It was so humid and I worked up a sweat, but I think that it makes for a good story. Kyan was a good sport about everything and didn't care if the car worked or if mommy had to push!

One of the traditions on the 4th, ever since I was little at least, are the races in the park! It was so fun to watch Kyan get to participate in them this year! He raced against the 3/4 year olds and tripped over his own to feet...but got back up and finished with a big smile on his face.
Another race that he did with his daddy was the 2 Block Hop. This is where Chad had to pieces of wood and Kyan would have to jump to and from them, one at a time. I think this was Kyan's favorite race and begged to do it over and over.
Kyan also did the potato sack race, where daddy had to help him to the finish line...
...and the balloon between your legs race. Kyan insisted on having a blue balloon, because that is his favorite color.

Lola with her great auntie HeidiGrandpa, Grandma, and Lola cheering Kyan on!

There is something about the 4th of July in the small town of Wahoo, Nebraska! We were so excited to go back and celebrate. Unfortunately, Kyan wasn't as excited about the fireworks as we were and stated that they were too loud! He did take to the sparklers though, so the next time we go back, we will know what to get. The fireworks at the local ball field were a hit with him as well. We were far enough away that the noise didn't bother him! It was a great end to our day!
