Hard to believe that today my baby boy is turning 4! Happy Happy Birthday Kyan! Also hard to believe that he had such a rocky start to his little life born with premature lungs resulting in a life flight helicopter ride to Phoenix Children's Hospital not even 12 hours after his arrival. Not knowing until the third day that he was going to even live and not being able to hold him until he was five days old was so tough and something that I never saw myself going through, but Kyan is a little fighter and battled his way out of the NICU in just 9 days! He is 110% healthy today and has had no side effects of being too early of a baby! Gosh, not sure why 4 is such an emotional birthday for me...I did not have a problem with Kyan turning 3 at all! He has brought so much joy to my life and is an awesome big brother and a wonderful son!Wanted to share just a few of my favorite pictures of him (some of them pre-blog era)!
He will be waking up today with homemade fudge waiting for him! I whipped some up fast last night - he thinks he is only getting a cake, as I told him he could have one or the other. I guess you could say that I felt guilty that he gets to spend all day with daddy going ice skating and to a movie, while I work, so I wanted him to have something from me (or to remember me just for a second) today! After his long day with daddy, we are having a little birthday party with a few close friends and family members at Peter Piper Pizza!

jenni - i know you say everybody thinks he looks just like chad. there's definitely chad in him, but i think he looks more like you than daddy. that's why he's so good looking ;-) (just kidding chad)!!

Wow, this post brought tears to my eyes. I never knew what a struggle he had as a newborn, you're right he is a fighter. Happy Birthday Kyan!
P.S. I didn't know his middle name and I love it.
I was going to tell you the other day, while cleaning things up I found the angel pin that I bought while Kyan was in the hospital. Also, I still have the wrist band that allowed me to get in to see the little guy. I even have the purple bracelet. Just the smell of it reminds me of everything that happened!
Just thought that you'd like to CRY a little bit more!

He's a little stud! Where does the time go? I remember going to the hospital just before he was released and he was so tiny. I hope he had a great birthday!!
