Brion got to go home from the hospital yesterday! That was about the only good thing that happened. Chad started feeling crappy and Lola has had a cough that won't stop - so does everyone else at the sitters. Around 2:30 am, Chad is shaking uncontrollably and coughing like crazy and Lola has woken herself up from coughing, and coughing, and coughing. I felt bad for Chad, but he doesn't let me help him when he is sick, so I moved onto Lola, who I couldn't get to stop. I took her to Good Night Pediatrics to see what they could do. It was that or wait until today to try and battle the long wait at an Urgent Care or the ER, and since I was already up, we went. We only had one person in front of us so we didn't wait long. The nurse said that she was running a little fever - 100.3 and then went to take her Oxygen count that she had trouble reading because Lola was CRYING! I was trying to comfort her, singing and all, but when she threw her piggy on the ground, the nurse was just mean and was like, "No look what you did, you don't have your animal anymore." Not, "Oh, let's stop and try to call her down and then get a count again". She was just really mean. If you are a nurse to young children, you should know how to try and comfort them, not just be mean to them.
So we were shooed into a room to see the doctor who has the nerve to come in and ask me why Lola is so grouchy. Are you kidding me? Duh, she is sick and can't get any rest so she is crabby and crying, plus she doesn't really like doctors because she is so used to them poking and prodding her, she doesn't know any better. Plus, I was there to find out what was wrong with her, not vice versa. Anyway, I said that she was tired at the beginning of me telling him that she wouldn't stop coughing and he says that we all are it is 3:30 in the morning. Ok, whatever. He says that they are going to do a breathing treatment and then he would write a prescription for some antibiotics.
For the mommies that do breathing treatments for their children, you know how hard this is. They are supposed to wear a mask that is connected to a machine that makes LOUD noise. Scary. Especially for a little baby. I had to hold her with one arm, restricting her hands from moving the mask away from her face, the other hand was forced to smash the mask upto her face and move with her face when she did. She cried through the entire thing and it was aweful. No one helped me and I felt like the worlds worst mommy. One of the hardest things I have had to do.
We then went and picked up her medicine and headed home around 5:30 this morning, where thankfully she went right back to sleep until now! She is still coughing like crazy, but at least she was able to rest.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. I can't believe how horrible they were at the pediatric urgent care. That's awful! Poor baby girl was sick...no wonder why she was upset.
I hope you all get feeling better soon and get some rest. We just got over having all the sickness here and it is definitely no fun!
Who POOPED in that nurse's coffee?!
Sorry you had to go through that....but I am happy that she slept a little for you & that Brion got to come home. Hope Chad's feeling better soon.
Oh Jenni that is awful....Hope Lola and chad both feel better soon!
Why didn't you call me?! Jayla was up from 3:30 to 5:30. SHe is just special not sick. You know my mommy skills ;)
Poor Roseland family!! I hope you don't start feeling down and out too. I hope you get some rest tonight! BTW, I thought the nurses were rude there too. I liked the doc we had though. I think there are so many horrible people in the health care field. They should have to pass a personality test too. Stupid jerks!!
That is horrible. My nephew used to get breathing treatments all the time so I know how hard that can be. As for the rude service, I've never heard of such a thing when it comes to Pediatrician's I would complain. Hope everyone has a speedy recovery.
well that doesn't sound like very much fun. hope she's feeling better!
