Cloud Nine

Ok first, a little bit of background. Twice a year, my dad and his friends come to AZ to golf everyday for a week. In March they golf 18 holes a day, in September, 36! I am sweating just thinking about it! Anywho, Chad and I used to always tag along with them when they went out to dinner, before we started to have kids, once they came, schedules and Lola's diva-ness just don't mix with us really meeting up anymore. So a few year ago, we started to cook the boys one homemade meal while they were away from home! It was a night where they didn't have to go to a restaurant and spend any money! Plus, it was a way for us to get to see them too! The past two years I have made Aunt Jan's homemade meatballs/Italian sausage/sauce spread (a recipe may soon come...still deciding on that one!) and they have left our house stuffed! It is a lot of hard work and preparation, but I have the BEST assistant in the world! Kyan loves to help make anything in the kitchen, but meatballs are his favorite! They were extra delicious tonight!

Kyan asked over and over again today, "How much longer 'til my golf buddies get here mommy?" To say that he was excited was an understatement. As soon as he heard the door, he ran to it and let everyone in! He was bouncing around and so excited to see everyone and show off all of his hard work! He gave some of the guys a tour of the house, making a special stop at his room to show his buddy Kyle the helmet that he made for him! Then it was off to the backyard to play around with a few of them for a little while so that I could finish up with dinner! His buddy John brought him sparkling grape juice and during dinner everyone toasted Kyan and his delicious meatballs! He was on cloud nine, to say the least! As soon as they left, he crashed and burned! Tonight was a great night!

Thanks golfing buddies for coming over for dinner and sharing our evening with us!

Wow!! That's a lot of golf!! I know I asked before, but where are your parents from again?

He is the perfect little boy- just enough testosterone, but still joins Mama in the kitchen! What more could you ever want?
Loved this post.

Sorry Amy, thought that I answered you on that one! They are from Nebraska!

The recipe will be posted if I can find the patience to go through my notes from when I cooked with my aunt! I better do it, it is just like my cookie recipe, on pieces of paper floating around somewhere, it would be safe on the blog!

Coming soon...

I wish I could have came over and been a little helper too, or atleast got in on the secret. Thanks again for thinking of me and sorry it did not work out.

I am sure your dad and his friends really appreciate the yummy home cooked meal. It's way better than any restaurant food.

I love Kyan and the picture with all his buddies.

Golf buddies! Cute and I want that recipe too!

Listen, my hubby and I both had great corporate careers, we risked everything and opened up our own business. The economy, well...you know what happened and we lost everything and went through bankruptcy after having so much money we did not know what to do with it before. But, we took the risk, we took the chance and we followed our dreams. Nothing could ever take that knowledge away--ever. When we lost everything we realized we had EVERYTHING--the things that really matter because they are not THINGS, they are people. Do I look back and miss those days and wonder what life would be like? Yep, but I know now that we would never look back wondering... just saying...

P.S. My profile picture was taken by my wedding photographer and very good friends Dusty and Michelle. Dusty is only working part time right now the rest is all photography!
