Today was a day of celebration!
It felt funny getting ready to go to work this morning...8th grade promotion is always a big deal. It is a special day to be a part of. Watching kiddos move on after being with you for the entire school year is always emotional, always. With it usually comes a new dress, freshly done hair, and lots of tissues. Bittersweet is the best way for me to put it. If you didn't notice from my last post, I grow to love so many of the kids that I teach like they are my own, so saying goodbye is always hard to do.
But today was different. Yes, it was all of those things mentioned above for me, but add an extra scoop of emotions on top, because after participating in one promotion ceremony, I got the pleasure of attending Kyan's Kindergarten celebration this afternoon. I was so thankful that it was in the afternoon and that I was able to make it! It was absolutely adorable and I am so proud of the incredible year that Kyan had!
Enjoy the show!
My handsome Kindergartener (soon to be first grader)! Kyan meets his teacher tomorrow morning and is so excited! There is one male teacher that teaches first grade and that is all he is talking about, so he has his fingers crossed that he gets him! We have talked at length about what happens if he doesn't get the teacher he really wants, so hopefully Kyan will be excited either way! Even though I work for the district, they don't let me know anything, so I won't know until he comes home after school tomorrow!

And speaking of teachers, we were so lucky to have Mrs. Jones this year! She has been amazing and even got him to smile with all 7 of his teeth missing, yep...you read that right, 7 gone. Two more were pulled by the dentist yesterday to make room. I have been noticing that Kyan is only wanting to smile without any teeth showing lately, but that is probably because he doesn't have any!
Thank you Mrs. Jones for an awesome year. We are keeping fingers crossed that when it comes time for second grade, we get you back!Congratulations Kyan on a fantastic year!
We really BIG love you and are so very proud of you!

Ok, I have missed your blog so much!! I have been trying to keep up on my google reader app on my blackberry, but I can't for the life of me get it to comment properly...anyway, I missed several of these posts, especially the high school emergency kits!! Those are awesome and i'm sure your girls LOVED THEM!!
And Kyan...seriously, how cute is he? I just want to hug him and it makes me cherish jake's sweet little age right now as he will be in Kyan's shoes sooner than I know it. :( I hate that!! Please give him a big hug of congrats!
Big hugs to you as well friend!

PERFECT.....now I officially have, "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, his name is my name toooooo" in my head!!! haa
Seriously, though- your post gave me the biggest knot in my throat. Through all you had going on with 8th grade graduation, I guess I never really stopped to think about a graduation even more dear to your heart.
He is so handsome, and crazy grown up. I love his hair longer like that!
Great job on the video, Frien!
I too like his hair longer!! Wow can't believe he will be a 1st grader! He looks so happy in that pic with his teacher, so sweet! I remember wanting a certain teacher in school, some of my friends parents would request the one they wanted for them but not mine!!! I used to get so mad and jealous LOL. So i cross my fingers for him!!
Congrats Kyan!!
Hey!!! Sorry I haven't been in touch. Major stuff going on at home -- hard, hard, hard. In fact, I was in AZ a few weeks ago, and was going to call you, but I had to spend the whole weekend in a seminar. I will most likely be out in the fall though, so I come, we have to meet up!
Are you so excited to be free for the summer??? I hope you have some fun stuff planned with those cute kidlets of yours. I can't believe how big they've gotten!
Your wedding trip looked like a good time!! Huge fan of apple doughnuts here. In fact, I might have a recipe for them, if you want it. They are super easy.
Yes.... I have something big cooking. I'm so hoping that you can come. It's going to be a super good time. Mark your calendar for Feb. 10-11th and get yourself out here. :) I'll tell you more about it later, as soon as I have some commitments in place.
Bye!
